Year 6 Horton Kirby Trip

Year 6 recently enjoyed a day of geography field work at the River Darent in Horton Kirby.  To start off their River topic, children had the opportunity to explore the river using rubber ducks to measure the velocity of the river and looking for patterns between depth and rate of flow on both straight and meandering sections of the river. Back at the environmental centre, perseverance was on show as the students used microscopes to investigate the permeability of different rocks.  The day culminated in the children creating their own river systems with flood defences to keep a Lego school safe.
