The Purpose of the Role

At Radnor House Sevenoaks, Outdoor Education is a significant part of the curriculum and extra-curricular offering within the school.  Each week, students from nursery to Year 3 take part in our Forest School, those in Year 4 to 8 study Outdoor Education.  From 2024, students in Year 9 may opt to study ‘Learning in the Outdoors’, a qualification certified by Agored Cymru.  The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is run from Year 9 upwards, at which all levels yields a large percentage of students within the school who take up the challenge.  All in all, the courses provide students with the opportunities for camps, expeditions and navigation days.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Outdoor Education, to support the running of these additional opportunities and deliver high quality training and activities for the students.

Skills and Qualifications:

Qualifications with NGB qualifications in walking are required (minimum Lowland Leader) and a current relevant First Aid certificate.  It is preferable that candidates are part of the DBS update service, but not essential.  Courses in DofE training will also be required (Leader/Supervisor, Assessor) and can be facilitated by Radnor House if not already completed.

We are always looking to expand the Outdoor Education provision at Radnor, and we also welcome candidates who hold NGB qualifications in climbing, paddle sports and bushcraft casual instructor roles with the view of further development in these areas.

An appreciation for the outdoors, a dedication for development, and the character to immerse within our busy and vibrant school setting is vital.
