Pupil Welfare and Support at Radnor
At Radnor, the welfare of our pupils is paramount.
We strive to create a happy, secure, and active learning environment where every student feels welcomed, supported, and valued. Our dedicated community of teachers and support staff work tirelessly to cater to each pupil as an individual, ensuring they can enjoy their education and thrive.
Our commitment to welfare extends to our staff, parents, and visitors. We aim to make everyone feel accepted for who they are, celebrated for their strengths, and supported to grow in areas of weakness. With small class sizes, extensive co-curricular opportunities, and a values-based ethos, we provide outstanding pastoral care, ensuring pupils always have someone to turn to and someone looking out for them.
Comprehensive Support System
Support for pupils is ingrained in every aspect of their school lives. We work in partnership with families to create opportunities and maintain the structures necessary for pupils to achieve their best. Our goal is to develop fulfilled, successful, and happy children who leave Radnor as confident young adults.
Support Network
Support and guidance are available from all staff members. The class teacher in the Prep School and Form Tutor in the Senior School are the first points of contact. Other pastoral leaders, including Deputy Heads, Heads of School, the Head of Student Support, and the School Counsellor, also play significant roles in pupil support. We offer confidential support for any pupil who wishes to discuss anxieties or concerns.
House System
Upon joining Radnor, pupils and staff are placed in one of our four Houses: Hever Hawks, Penshurst Falcons, Lullingstone Kites, and Eynsford Eagles. They remain in their House throughout their time at Radnor, competing in inter-House sports and cultural competitions and collaborating to raise money for their House charities.
Rewards and Sanctions
Our reward and sanction system encourages pupils to embody our core values and achieve their full potential. In the Prep School, we use a Class Dojo points system from Reception to Year 6, with pupils recognized in weekly Celebration Assemblies. Points contribute to House totals, with the House Cup awarded at the end of the academic year.
For Senior School pupils, high standards of behaviour and respect are expected in all activities. They are given numerous opportunities to find success and be celebrated, whether in a club, the classroom, or on the sports field. At the beginning of each academic year, all pupils and their parents sign a Behaviour Agreement to show their support for the school's behaviour policy.
Counselling Services
To supplement our excellent pastoral support, we employ a counsellor two days a week. Liz Yonge provides a confidential space for pupils to discuss worries or issues they may not feel comfortable sharing with teaching staff.
At Radnor, we are dedicated to the holistic development of every child, ensuring they grow into confident, capable, and compassionate individuals.
