End of Spring Term News – A Celebration of Achievement Across Radnor House Sevenoaks
As the Spring Term concludes and the Easter break begins, Radnor House Sevenoaks is proud to reflect on a season of exceptional achievements, joyful experiences, and continued growth across both the Prep and Senior Schools. From inspiring performances and sporting triumphs to academic milestones and enriching opportunities, this term has truly embodied the spirit and ambition of the Radnor community.
Performing Arts Take Centre Stage
The Performing Arts have flourished this term. The Senior School’s ambitious production of Guys and Dolls was a resounding success, showcasing remarkable talent, creativity, and teamwork. The staging, lighting, and musical direction reflected the dedication of both staff and students. Nineteen Senior students competed at the Tunbridge Wells Arts Festival, proudly earning one-third of all Gold Awards. Sixth Form Drama students now look ahead to their A Level practical exams with confidence.
In the Prep School, pupils also shone on stage and in performance. Year 5 enjoyed a memorable experience at Young Voices, while the piano recital led by Mrs Vargas demonstrated excellent progress and musical development. The production of Snow White delighted audiences and highlighted the confidence and creativity nurtured in the younger years.
Excellence in Sport
Sport continues to be a cornerstone of life at Radnor House Sevenoaks. In the Senior School, pupils achieved impressive results in a variety of competitions. Girls’ football teams secured victories against Sevenoaks School, netball made a strong return, and the U13 boys’ hockey team reached the Quarter Finals of the National Cup—an outstanding achievement given the strength of the opposition. Success also came at the ISA London South Cross-Country event, where one student took home gold and eleven others qualified for the national finals.
Individual accomplishments have been equally noteworthy. Betsy continued to excel in Cyclocross at a national level, Kai won gold at the IAPS swimming finals, and Conrad was selected for the Kent U18 tennis team, going on to win the U18 Doubles at The Queen’s Club.
In the Prep School, sporting highlights included participation in swim galas and cross-country events. Pupils demonstrated resilience and team spirit at every level, with internal galas showcasing courage and perseverance across both Key Stage 2 and Pre Prep. The Radnor 5s Festival further highlighted the inclusive and community-focused approach to sport at the school.
Academic Endeavour and Enrichment
Academic life at Radnor House Sevenoaks has remained dynamic and forward-thinking. Senior School students in Year 9 explored future pathways during the Options Evening, while Year 11 engaged in Sixth Form Taster Days and mock exams. A standout Careers Evening, coordinated by Ms Brice, welcomed representatives from fields such as law, medicine, animation, and film production, providing valuable insights into professional life.
The school also launched the new ‘Spottiswoode Society’ for Scholars, saw success in the Intermediate Maths Challenge, and celebrated the Senior Debating Team’s Bronze Medal at the prestigious Nehru Cup at Harrow School. The Junior Debating Team also continues its impressive journey, heading into the Regional Final in May. Sixth Form students have received university offers from top institutions including Exeter, King’s College London, and Bath, with more to come as the academic year progresses.
In the Prep School, the Archway Curriculum has continued to bring learning to life. Highlights this term included interactive history days—such as meeting “Florence Nightingale”, exploring the Great Fire of London, and celebrating wartime life with a VE Day party. These immersive experiences supported deep academic engagement and memorable learning across year groups.
Community, Character, and Celebration
Character development and community spirit have remained at the heart of school life. A recent whole-school Drop-Down Day, led by Mrs Mitten, focused on wellbeing and personal development, with overwhelmingly positive feedback from students and parents alike. The inaugural Strand-Up-To-Bullying Day encouraged kindness and respect, reinforcing key values across both schools.
Radnor House Sevenoaks also celebrated the outstanding £17,000 raised by the Friends of Radnor last year, a testament to the strength and generosity of the parent community. In addition, the school congratulates Ms Read, Head of Psychology, on achieving Chartered Psychologist status from the British Psychological Society—an accolade recognising her expertise and contribution to education and research.
Looking Ahead
As students and staff look forward to the Easter holidays, there is excitement for upcoming adventures, including a French trip to Paris and future sports tours to South Africa and Italy. These experiences continue to enrich life at Radnor and reflect the school’s commitment to providing broad, balanced, and ambitious opportunities for all.
Radnor House Sevenoaks extends sincere thanks to its students, staff, and families for their continued support and commitment. The school community looks ahead to an exciting Summer Term and wishes everyone a restful and joyful Easter break.
