Radnor Takes Largest Ever Squad to National Swimming Finals
This term Radnor House swimming has continued to grow from strength to strength, and we have enjoyed numerous fixtures against local schools, including our first win of the season.
We have a huge number of committed swimmers who attend weekly swim squad sessions both before and after school, demonstrating real commitment and perseverance to develop their stroke technique and racing tactics. These sessions are invaluable in fostering team spirit and of course provide more individual coaching opportunities.
After our recent success at the Regional ISA Competition at the K2, we were delighted to take 9 swimmers from Radnor House to represent London South at the National Finals held at the London Aquatics Centre.
Congratulations to our national qualifiers; Catherine B d L, Harry W, Edward B D L, Sophia B, Bella F, Jack D, Heidi N, Oliver L and Hettie McG.
Our most outstanding achievement of the day went to Harry W. Who became victorious in the Year 4 50m breaststroke and is now the national champion in this event. He has shown great determination and commitment to his sport over the last few years training at both Sevenoaks Swimming Club and here at school and this dedication has shown in his performance. Miss Fullalove, our Director of Swimming comments “What a fantastic achievement for Harry, I am delighted that his hard work has paid off and look forward to seeing what he can achieve in the future in the pool”
Another student to mention is Sophia B who achieved Bronze in the 100m Front crawl Year 11 to 13 age group. As a Year 11 swimming against older pupils this is a fantastic achievement. Sophia swims at Bromley Swimming Club training 6 times a week, demonstrating outstanding commitment and determination to achieve her best in the pool. Mrs Blackman, head of Prep sport commented on her achievement “It has been wonderful to see Sophia remain so committed to achieve great things in the pool over the years since I started teaching her in Year 6. I am confident her upcoming seasons will see her go from strength to strength”
The whole Sports Department are really excited to see what the swimmers can achieve in the new year and the upcoming IAPs competition.
