Radnor House Student Liliya Selected for England U16 Hockey Team

Radnor House Sevenoaks is proud to celebrate the extraordinary achievement of Year 10 student, Liliya, who has been selected to play for the England U16 Hockey team. This remarkable milestone marks the culmination of years of dedication and hard work, with Liliya now set to represent her country on the field.

Liliya's hockey journey began at the tender age of five, sparked by her family’s passion for the sport. With parents and a brother who all played hockey, it was natural for her to pick up the stick. Initially unsure about her commitment to the game, Liliya soon discovered her love for hockey, which has flourished ever since.

Over the years, Liliya has developed her skills and pushed herself to new limits, particularly in her physical fitness. She has shown exceptional dedication, often arriving at school by 7 am to complete running sessions and strength and conditioning training in the gym.
Reflecting on her selection, Liliya said, “I’m really happy that all of my work has paid off. I love hockey at school – it’s given me a confidence boost with all of the support I have received.”

Mr. Allberry, Radnor House Sevenoaks’ Director of Hockey, praised Liliya’s achievement: “I am delighted that all of Liliya's hard work has been rewarded with this selection. She is one of the most talented players I have had the pleasure to work with, and I know how much this will mean to her. This will hopefully be the platform that leads her on to her ultimate goal of reaching the Olympics. The way she interacts with teammates cannot be overlooked either; she is a leader in every sense, and I know her peers will be delighted for her.”

Tom Butt, another key supporter of Liliya’s journey, expressed his pride: “I’m very excited and very proud of Liliya’s achievements. She is an extremely talented player, and she deserves this. I know she will do really well when she starts making her debut for England.”

Liliya’s success is not only a testament to her talent but also to her unwavering dedication and the support of her family, school, and teammates. As she prepares to don the England jersey, the entire Radnor House Sevenoaks community will be cheering her on.

Congratulations, Liliya, on this fantastic achievement – we can’t wait to see what’s next for you on your hockey journey!
