World Book Day Brings a Week of Excitement to Radnor House Prep School
The Prep School was buzzing with excitement as we celebrated World Book Day with a week full of activities designed to share and encourage a love of reading. From our Drop Everything And Read sessions to a thrilling Rainbowsaurus Hunt in the library and the creative challenge of crafting a Book in a Jar, pupils embraced the magic of books throughout the week.
We were delighted to welcome author and cartoonist Neill Cameron, who hosted engaging sessions for Years 3 to 6 in the Prep Library. Neill, best known for his creation Freddy the Awesome Robot from Mega Robo Bros, captivated pupils with his storytelling and illustration techniques. He encouraged them to create their own unique characters, inspiring a wave of creativity among our young readers.
The festivities continued on Friday with a Courtyard Quiz, challenging pupils and parents to "Guess the Book" from just a glimpse of the cover. This was followed by our much-anticipated Dressing Up Parade, where pupils and staff brought their favourite book characters to life in a vibrant and joyful display of costumes.
Later in the day, we welcomed acclaimed author and illustrator Steve Antony to the Prep Library. Nursery, Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 pupils enjoyed a special session with Steve, where he shared his beloved picture book The Queen’s Hat. His engaging storytelling and illustrations captivated our youngest pupils, making for a truly memorable experience.
Steve also had the honour of judging our Dressing Up competition, adding an extra layer of excitement to the celebrations.
World Book Day at Radnor House was a fantastic success, fostering a shared love of reading across the school community. A huge thank you to our visiting authors, staff, pupils, and parents for making it such a special event!
