Higher Education Trip to Oxford Inspires Students
Last Saturday, an inspired group of Year 11 and 12 students embarked on a Higher Education Trip to Oxford, organised by our dedicated Head of Sixth Form, Mrs. Owen. The visit offered a unique opportunity to explore the world-renowned university, with an itinerary packed full of fascinating insights and experiences.
The day began with an exclusive tour of Lincoln College, guided by a connection to one of our alumni, Xanthi, who is currently studying Theology there. This special link allowed the group access to remarkable parts of the college that are not usually open to the public, including the historic Old Dining Room and the breathtaking Lincoln College Library — widely regarded as one of the most beautiful libraries in Oxford.
From there, the group explored the picturesque grounds of several other notable colleges, including Brasenose College, Balliol College, Trinity College, Wadham College, and Magdalen College. The students also visited the serene University Parks, where they were treated to the lively sight of a college match of ultimate frisbee.
Lunchtime provided a festive break, as students enjoyed exploring the Christmas markets. Afterward, they participated in an inspiring tour of the iconic Oxford libraries, soaking in the scholarly atmosphere of these historic spaces.
The trip concluded with a visit to the Ashmolean Museum, where students marvelled at a collection of ancient artefacts and artworks, deepening their appreciation for history and culture.
By the end of the day, the students left Oxford feeling thoroughly motivated and inspired to work hard in pursuit of their own academic aspirations. Many expressed newfound determination to aim for prestigious institutions like Oxford.
Looking ahead, the excitement continues, as next year’s Higher Education Trip will take students to Cambridge for a similar experience.
Trips like these provide invaluable inspiration and insight, encouraging our students to dream big and work diligently to achieve their goals.A huge thank you to Mrs Owen for organizing such an enriching experience for our young scholars.
